What is Asian handicap?
The main advantage of the Asian handicap is that a draw does not count in the final result. In normal betting, all three outcomes count, because all three results are counted (home team win, draw, away team win). In the Asian handicap you have two options, win for the home or away team. So the percentage of the probability that your selection will be verified automatically increases.
However, a goal can change the outcome for or against you. We will introduce you to the rules in detail. There are several lines to bet on with an Asian handicap and we will take you most of them below. For the rest of the guide, we'll use AH terminology, for abbreviation purposes.
Asian Handicap 0:0 (Draw No Bet)
Here the game starts with 0-0. No advantage is given to any group. A draw is excluded and the rules are simple.
Example: Group A - Group B AH – 0:0
Home odds: 1.90, Away odds: 1.95
You chose team A to win 0:0 AH at odds of 1.90. For your selection to be verified, team A will simply need to win the game. If team A wins, you win 100€ x 1.90 = 190€. Your net profit is 190€ - 100€ = 90€.
If the game ends in a draw, then the original stake of (€100) will be returned to you. If team A loses the game, then your initial stake is lost.
The same would be true if you had chosen group B 0:0 AH. Team B should have won the game. If the game is tied then you get your money back. If team B loses, you lose your money (initial bet).
You may have noticed that many bookmakers offer the "Draw No Bet" (DNB) option. This betting option is exactly the same as the 0:0 AH option.
Here the game starts with 0-1/4. The underdog team has a fourth goal in their favor before kick-off. A draw is excluded. It is more complicated than half AH. You can win the entire maximum win, win half the money of the maximum possible win, lose it all, or half your bet. Let's look at an example below.
Example: Group A – Group B AH - 0:1/4
Home Odds: 2.00, Away Odds: 1.90
You bet €100 on team A to win – 1/4 AH.
In order for your selection to be verified, team A must win the game. If he wins, then you win 100€ x 2.00 = 200€. That is, net profit of 200€ - 100€ = 100€.
You bet €100 on team B to win – 1/4 AH. For your selection to be verified, team B must win the game. If the team wins, then you win 100€ x 1.90 = 190€. Which means that your profit is 190€ - 100€ = 90€.
If the game is tied, then you get half your stake back (€50) and win the remaining half multiplied by odds of 1.90. That is, you win the 50€ (returned to you) + 95€ (50€ + 1.90) = 145€. Your exact profit will be 145€ - 100€ = 45€.
Asian Handicap 0.5
Here the game starts with 0-1/2. The underdog team has a half-goal advantage before kick-off. A draw is excluded. There is no cashback on this AH bet. You will win or lose your bet.
Example: Group A – Group B AH – 0:1/2
Home Odds: 1.85, Away Odds: 2.00
You bet €100 on team A to win -1/2 AH (we use the minus sign (-), since the team is the favorite in AH). To win your bet you need team A to win the game. In any other case, you lose. If team A wins, then your profit is 100€ x 1.85 = 185€. That is, 85€ net profit. If team B wins or draws the match, then you lose your entire bet.
You bet €100 for team B to win +1/2 AH (we use the plus sign (+) for the team that has the advantage AH). In order for your selection to win, team B must win or draw in the regular season. If one of the two results occurs, then you win 100€ x 2.00 = 200€. This means that your net profit is 200€ - 100€ = 100€. If team A wins, then you lose your stake.
Team A's win or team A to be played -1/2 AH, are the same things in Asian handicap.
Asian Handicap 0.75
Here the game starts with 0-3/4. The underdog team has 3/4 goals in their favor, before kick-off. A draw is excluded. It is different from the 1/4 AH bet with a very small difference.
Example: Team A – Team B AH – 3/4:0
Home odds: 1.90, Away odds: 1.90
You bet €100 on team A to win +3/4 AH (team A here is not the favorite, but the underdog, so AH has an advantage). To win the bet, team A must win the game or draw it. If team A wins or draws, you win 100€ x 1.90 = 190€. Your net profit is 190€ - 100€ = 90€.
If team B wins by 1 goal difference (0-1, 1-2, 2-3), then you lose half of the 100€ bet, i.e. 50€ and the remaining 50€ are refunded.
However, if team B wins the game by 2 goals difference or more (0-2, 1-3, 0-3), then you lose your entire initial bet (€100).
You bet 100€ on team B to win – 3/4 AH. To win the bet, team B must win the game by 2 or more goals (0-2, 1-3, 0-3). If team B wins by 2 or more goals, then you win 100€ x 1.90€ = 190€. That is, your net profit is 190€ - 90€ = 90€.
If team B wins by 1 goal difference (0-1, 1-2, 2-3), then half the stake (€50) is returned to you and you win the remaining half (€50 x 1.90).
That is, you win 50€ (returned to you) + 95€ (50€ x 1.90) = 145€. Your net profit is 145€ - 100€ = 45€. If team B wins or the game draws then you lose your entire stake.
Asian Handicap -1
Εδώ το παιχνίδι ξεκινά με 0-1. Ένα (1) γκολ πλεονέκτημα δίνεται στην ομάδα που είναι το αουτσάιντερ. Η ισοπαλία εξαιρείται και εδώ.
Example: Group A – Group B AH – 0:1
Home odds: 1.80 – Away odds: 2.05
You bet 100€ for team A -1 AH to win. To win, team A must win by 2 or more goals difference (2-0, 3-0, 3-1). If team A wins by 2 goals or more, then you win 100€ x 1.80 = 180€. Your net profit is 180€ - 100€ = 80€.
If team A wins by 1 goal difference (1-0, 2-1, 3-2), then you get your money back, i.e. the bet is not valid.
If the game ends in a draw or team B wins, then you lose your bet.
You bet 100€ for team B to win +1 AH. To win your bet, team B must win or draw the game. If the game is a draw or team B wins it, then you win €100 x 2.05 = €205. That is, your net profit is 205€ - 100€ = 105€.
If team B loses by 1 goal difference (1-0, 2-1, 3-2), then your money is getting back. The bet does not apply.
Finally, if team A wins by 2 or more goals difference then you lose your bet.
Many players prefer to play Asian handicap betting because unlike classic betting, it provides more winning options. The rules may seem complicated at first, but over time and practice, they seem quite simple
